I am not someone who believes that a single object can change the texture of a morning. I am, however, willing to be wrong about this. The pillowcase arrived in a plain envelope on a Tuesday. You simply wake up one morning and notice that your hair is doing the thing it used to do only at the end of a blow-dry — that slightly smooth, slightly behaved thing — and you cannot remember the last time you used a serum.
